As anxiety and distress can intensify the pain experience, my role as a Psychotherapist within the Dorset Pain Management Service could be to help people living with pain better understand what is contributing to their symptoms, lighten their load emotionally, and strengthen their coping strategies and skills. As appropriate, therapy could include the use of EMDR for trauma-focused work, Interpersonal Therapy or an integrative approach, with CBT. Nutrition and mental health is also an area of interest.
